Why can’t I see the option to create or update DOIs when I log into Fabrica?

You can access DataCite Fabrica with different types of accounts. Each account has different permissions. If you log into DataCite Fabrica with a Member or Consortium Organization account (e.g. OSDV), you have permission to update contacts and create Repositories. However, you won’t be able to create DOIs.

Create a Repository Account

You need a Repository account to create and manage DOIs. You can create Repository with your Member or Consortium Organization account.

To create DOIs and metadata, you must use your Repository account e.g. OSDV.CLTNJL (this also applies to the DataCite REST API and MDS API).

When you are logged in with a Repository account you will see:

• The Create DOI button
• The role "Repository" on the Info tab
• The Repository account ID to the top right of the Fabrica page and in the Settings tab
