If you're a researcher, it’s likely you have an ORCID iD. Your ORCID iD is your unique persistent identifier (PID) and provides a reliable link between you and your research activities. DataCite DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) provide a unique identifier for your research outputs. DOIs are always accompanied by metadata, which allows connections to be made between the research shared with a DOI and other things shared with a PID - like organizations with a ROR ID and researchers with an ORCID iD.
