Consortium Organization FAQ
What is a DataCite Consortium?
A DataCite Consortium is a group of like-minded organizations that have come together to collectively participate in DataCite’s community and governance activities and use DataCite’s DOI services. The Consortium model has a three-tiered structure. There is a top-level account for the Consortium Lead. There is then one account for each of the Consortium Organizations, and an account for each Repository under each of those Consortium Organizations. Figure 1 shows the structure of a DataCite Consortium.
Who is my point of contact?
Your Consortium Lead will be able to provide you with support for any issues concerning login, prefix management, DOI registration, metadata, and best practice.
How can I access Fabrica?
You will receive a log in for a new Consortium Organization account in Fabrica test and production. This account can create, manage, and delete Repositories. You should add contact information to this account.
How can I start registering DOIs?
Either your existing repository account will be transferred to your Consortium Organization, or you will need to set up a Repository account. This can be done by you or your Consortium lead. This is the account that actually creates and manages DOIs. Each Consortium Organization must have at least one Repository account under it.
What are the terms and conditions of my organization’s participation in this Consortium?
The Terms and Conditions also apply to Consortium Organizations bound by the agreement with DataCite concluded by a Consortium Lead on their behalf. Make sure you are familiar with them.
What about my organizational contact information?
To ensure you receive important communications from DataCite it is important to keep your organizational contact information up to date.
